Torch Ginger [Etlingera elatior], aka Ginger Flower, Red Ginger Lily, Torch Lily, Wild Ginger, Combrang, Bunga Siantan, Kantan, Philippine Wax Flower, Xiang Bao Jiaing, Indonesian Tall Ginger, Boca de Dragón, Rose de Porcelaine, Porcelain Rose) is a species of herbaceous perennial plant.
It is believed native to Sulawesi [Celebes] and Jawa [Java] Indonesia. The plant is now grown in many tropical locations. Torch ginger is an indispensable tropical plant for its medicinal properties, ornamental plant in tropical-themed garden, big flower gorgeous in flower arrangement, and must have spice garden in many South East Asian dishes.
It even has a place in an eco-garden especially as its flowers can attract sunbirds.
